Sebastian Barry chooses SOLACE in his Guardian Books of the Year

Sebastian Barry chooses his books of 2011 in today’s Guardian, and Solace is in there, along with Kevin Barry’s City of Bohane, Ali Smith’s There But For The, and Steve Sem-Sandberg’s The Emperor of Lies. Barry describes Solace as “subtle” and Bohane – aptly – as “rampaging”, and says that together, we “put up two gallant new flags for the Irish novel”. I’m very grateful to be in such terrific company. Read the Guardian feature in full here.
